Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, KandyThe largest botanical garden on the island. The Botanic Gardens date back to 1371 when King Wickramabahu III ascended the throne and kept court at Peradeniya near Mahaweli river this was followed by King Kirti Sri and King Rajadhi Rajasinghe.

Durian FruitThe rich, buttery smooth and luscious flesh of the durian fruit is delicious and is like no other fruit. However, the perhaps unpleasant smell of the durian fruit gave rise to the often repeated phrase: "durian is a fruit that smells like hell but taste like heaven". No two people ever describes the taste exactly the same. -

White-water rafting at KitugalaWhether a beginner or experienced there is good white-water rafting opportunity in Sri Lanka. This picture shows a couple of my guests trying their hand at the sport for the first time in Kitugala (near Kandy). They did go in the water...but only because they jumped in for a swim at the end of the course! -
