Steven Kelly - April 15th to 22nd 2014 It is my pleasure to recommend srilankatailored tours to anyone interested in visiting Sri Lanka. Both Upul and his colleague Ranga were extremely accommodating in tailoring a tour which was perfect for my needs and with minimal fuss. From my arrival to the day I departed every effort was made to ensure that I enjoyed my stay in Sri Lanka. This included last minute changes to plans and even washing my clothes after they got particularly messy on a safari. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country, rich with history, culture and wildlife and thanks to Upul and Ranga I was able experience much of this during my short stay. I particularly enjoyed seeing wild elephants up-close, not to mention Sigiriya rock, the botanic gardens, Anura village safari with the bullock cart and the many temples I was lucky enough to visit. Thanks again Upul and Ranga. I wish you all the best and every luck in the future!

Justin Cross - Redhill, United Kingdom - July 2013 I have just spent a couple of days touring part if the island with Upul and I have to say a big thank-you to him for making such a great time. Upul was recommended to me by a friend who had toured with him previously and because she spoke so highly of him I decided to see for myself. Throughout the tour Upul was full of interesting facts and took his time to explain points of interest to me. I think through our e-mail conversation before I arrived he had a rough idea of what I liked and didn’t like and the tour he put together was fantastic. The highlight for me was the tea plantations. Upul was really kind in offering to take photos and also making random stops if I saw something I liked. He’s really very flexible! I’m only here for a week, but I would have liked to have spent longer touring with him. However, I have decided to return next year and have already asked him to piece together an itinerary for me. I guess the thing I noticed the most was that it felt like I was more with an old friend than someone I didn’t know and I feel very grateful for having the opportunity of meeting Upul and spending some time with him too. He’s very easy to talk to an a great listener. Thanks Upul – I had a fantastic time :-)

From the beginning of our email discussions, to you helping us sort out getting cushions made en route to Anuradhapura and finding a wine cork in Passekudah. You showed us Sri Lanka in style and always with kindness, patience and humour. Your knowledge of Buddhism, the local flora and fauna, history and legends of your country is astounding. You picked us up at the airport in the wee hours in Negombo and after we rested showed us around Kandy. You met up with us again later in Colombo and then we spent the next 17 days visiting Galle, Mirissa, Yala Nat’l Park where you spotted three leopards, finding a great spot to watch the poya procession in Tissahamarama, fun hikes for the kids and us in Ella, showing us the highlights of Nuwara Eliya before we change plans for a night in Passekudah. Dambulla Caves, Polonaruwa ruins and the vertigo inducing climb up Sigiriya Rock with the missing step. Informing us and keeping us cool in-between stops in Anuradhapura. Last but not least driving us to the unknown Kalpitiya peninsula and sorting out a birthday cake for Linda Jean. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience thanks to you Upul – organised, courteous, kind, funny, patient, knowledgeable, the list goes on. I love Sri Lanka thanks to you. We’ll miss your presence. It’s been and experience we’ll never forget. You are always welcome in New Zealand.
Sue and Simon Webb - Dubai and UK - 31/5/2013 Thank you for such an enjoyable holiday despite THE STEPS but even they were good for a laugh. Everything was wonderful – the people all so beautiful and friendly, the relaxed dogs in the road and cats, both so at home lying in the path of the traffic, the wildlife we saw, the rear of the leopard. I enjoyed the two head massages and am sure they have rejuvenated my BRAIN! And some notable bumpy car journeys loosened some joints! All the sights and temples of course were interesting to experience as your vast knowledge gave me an insight into Buddhism and a deep appreciation of the Buddhist way of life. The visit to Ella was stunning and the scenery breathtaking! The thunderstorm in Yala Nation Park was spectacular – how did you arrange that?? Well there is much more I/We could write, and certainly this was a holiday to remember and we very much appreciate your amazing knowledge and friendship. Beth and Dave Sansbury, USA - 3 to 6 April 2013 We would like to add our voices to the chorus of praise for Upul. He made our short trip to the country a pleasurable and memorable experience. He was a superb driver/guide for our four-day whirlwind tour of Sri Lanka. He was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, flexible, and prompt with an excellent command of English. He handled the often difficult driving situations with great care and skill and provided an outstanding commentary at the various sites along the way. He allowed us time to explore on our own and was sensitive to my wife’s desire to stop frequently and photograph beautiful scenes. In addition to the major tourist sites, he showed us areas such as a rubber plantation and pineapple fields that enhanced our appreciation of the county. We could not have asked for a better guide.

We have a very nice vacation. The people are very friendly and out guide made his best to make our family vacation great. Although our short time visit (3 days) we went to so many nice places with a lot of history, sightseeing in a well preserved natural environment. We are really looking forward to come back and stay more time to enjoy Sri Lanka hospitality.
My kids always refer to Upul as "bien buena onda"(very friendly in Spanish) as he always taking care of them and very patience. Thank you Upul for all your attentions, we really enjoy the time together and we learn a lot!

He is the kindest, most knowledgeable (try him out on plants 'botanical' names - he's unbelievable), trustworthy, professional and indeed nicest human being you are likely to meet! Our magnificent Sri Lanka tour, with accommodation was designed from start to finish by Upul and even though the season may have not been the best time to try to do all the things we wanted to do on our visit, Upul managed it superbly. He arranged white water rafting, a climb of Adams Peak and a Yala Safari! That's not to mention relaxing on the beach, yet more cultural experiences, history lessons, eating, drinking, fun & laughter etc. Nothing is too much trouble for Upul. He will stop wherever and whenever you want, whether it is to find you that shop you want, capture a photo or even arrange cigarette beaks! Every moment spent with Upul is a delight and we are privileged to know him. Another memorable holiday! Love & Best wishes.
Ellie and Dan - England - 4 September 2009 Dan and I spent an enjoyable week with Upul travelling from Negombo to the Elephant Orphanage, through the ancient cities and finally to Kandy. Upul's knowledge on history and facts and figures is second to none, so although I have been keeping a journal, I’m sure I haven’t captured all that he’s told us. Before coming to Sri Lanka we found Upul to be very efficient and helpful with e-mails detailing exactly what we were to do and working around our requirements. The accommodation was good and he arranged half board each time which kept the cost down. He also arranged an alternative driver for a few days as he already had another trip planned and we had organised our trip as very short notice. What’s more Upul is a great guy to chat to. We spent a couple of evenings relaxing with him and drinking Arrack. He shared his passion of Buddhism, history, nature and even cooking, giving me a recipe for dahl – frankly we could not have found a better guide and driver to introduce us to Sri Lanka, so we are very happy. We look forward to returning and touring with you again Upul. Thank you very much!
Jill Tarlton, England - 11 August 2009 We have been travelling round Sri Lanka with Upul for the last 11 days and have had a fantastic holiday with him. We have visited ancient cities, Kandy, Dambulla Caves, elephant orphanage, Nuwaraellya, Ella and are now on the coast. Everywhere we have seen is amazing, but made much more interesting by Upul's extensive explanations and teaching. Everything has gone very smoothly and we have all got on well with each other. Upul and Wicky put together a brilliant tailored tour which broke up the journey to the East coast (10 hours straight from the airport) and meant we got to see some of the country on route to Arugam Bay. The vehicles are really comfortable and these guys really take care of you, they were so hospitable to us and I would recommend them to anyone. I am planning to go back to surf around the south and west coast and will be using these guys, take my word for it and don’t try and use the buses! See you soon guys!
